Biography

Louis de Froment was a French conductor born in 1921 in Toulouse, France. He studied at the city conservatory and later at the Conservatoire national supérieur de musique in Paris, earning a first prize in conducting in 1948. De Froment served as music director for orchestras at casinos in Deauville and Cannes and led the permanent chamber orchestra of the radio in Nice from 1958 to 1959. He conducted the Luxembourg Philharmonic Orchestra from 1958 to 1980 and the Orchestre National de la Radiodiffusion Française. De Froment conducted the premières of the musical pieces “Concerto Breve” (1953) and “Les caprices de Marianne” (1954). Albums include Camille Saint-Saëns: Les 5 concertos pour piano et orchestre (2014). De Froment died in 1994.
