Biography

MarÃa Guadalupe Silva CosÃo, known professionally as Lupe Silva, was a Mexican singer and actress born in Mexico. She began her career singing at the CafÃ© FrancÃ©s alongside Los Bribones and Lupita CorazÃ³n. Her first album, Mil recuerdos y una voz, was released under Discos Peerless. In the 1960s, she signed with Discos Musart to record two albums featuring compositions by AgustÃn Lara: Evocando "La Hora Azul" de Lara and Canciones de Lara. She also recorded an album of Gabriel Ruiz's compositions for Musart. As an actress, Silva portrayed Eduviges in the 1975 film La trenza. In 1992, she participated in Solamente una vez, a tribute to AgustÃn Lara organized by the AsociaciÃ³n Nacional de Actores at the Teatro de la Ciudad Esperanza Iris. She passed away in 2012.
