Lowrider, a Swedish stoner rock band, was formed in Karlstad in the mid-1990s by bassist/singer Peder Bergstrand and lead guitarist/singer Ole Hellquist, along with guitarist Niclas Stalfors and drummer Andreas Eriksson. The band's early steps included releasing the Nebula/Lowrider Double EP in 1998, a split with psychedelic stoner rock band Nebula. Their debut album, Ode to Io, was released in 2000 following a European tour that year. In 2001, they contributed the track "David William Hughes" to the compilation I Am Vengeance: Original Soundtrack. The band unofficially disbanded in 2003 but reformed for performances at DesertFest Berlin and London in 2013. With the original lineup intact, Lowrider released their album Refractions on February 21, 2020. In 2024, they collaborated with Elephant Tree on the split/collaboration album The Long Forever, which charted at number 80 on the UK Album Downloads Chart.
