Biography

Love Tractor, a rock band from Athens, Georgia, was founded in 1980 by guitarists Mark Cline and Mike Richmond, along with bassist Armistead Wellford. The group initially performed instrumental material but later incorporated minimal vocals. Their debut album, Love Tractor, was released in 1982 on DB Records. In 1983, they followed up with Around the Bend and a college-chart-topping cover of Kraftwerk's "Neon Lights". Love Tractor signed to Big Time/RCA, releasing This Ain't No Outerspace Ship (1986). They continued to release albums including Themes from Venus (1988) and The Sky at Night (2001). After a hiatus from 2002, Love Tractor reformed with a new lineup in the mid-2000s, releasing Green Winter (2005). The band's original members reunited for live performances in 2016.
