Los Alegres de Terán, a Norteño band from Mexico, was formed in Nuevo León when Eugenio Abrego and Tomas Ortiz met in a club in the mid-1940s. The duo began their musical journey around Monterrey and Reynosa before settling in McAllen, Texas. Their first record, âCorrido de Pepitoâ (1948), marked the beginning of their career for Falcon Records. They later signed with Orfeo Records of Mexico, which significantly boosted their recognition through promotions in Mexico City and Monterrey. Notable songs from this period include âCarta Jugadaâ and âAlma Enamoradaâ. The duo also recorded for Columbia Records and Del Valle Records. In 1983, Los Alegres de Terán were inducted into the Tejano Conjunto Hall of Fame. Following Abrego's death in 1988, Tomas Ortiz partnered with the Delgadillo brothers, Francisco and Samuel, continuing the group's legacy until Ortiz's passing in November 2007.
