Biography
Los 50 de Joselito is a Colombian band founded in 1998 in Bogotá by music programmer Ãlvaro Quintero and director Raúl Campos, with producer Nelson Diaz. The ensemble was created to reinterpret the tropical hits of the 1940s and 1950s, especially those of Guillermo Buitrago, and to offer a fresher, youthful take on cumbia, paseo, son paisa, and Colombian merengue. The group released their first album, Legando una Tradición, which featured the song "Dame tu Mujer José," in 1998. Over the next two decades, Los 50 de Joselito expanded its catalog with albums like Más Vivos que Nunca (2010), which became one of the best-selling tropical music albums that year, and Evolución (2022). Los 50 de Joselito earned multiple awards, including recognition from the Fundación de la Música Colombiana in 2018, nominations for the Billboard Latin Music Awards in 2020, and numerous Tropical Music Awards, cementing their role in contemporary Colombian tropical music.
