Biography

Atmosphere is an American hip-hop duo formed in 1996 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Rapper Sean Daley, known as Slug, and producer Anthony Davis, known as Ant, founded the ensemble. Originally performing as “Urban Atmosphere,” Daley initially served as the DJ while Derek Turner, known as Spawn, performed as the rapper. They eventually reversed roles and shortened the ensemble name. Turner departed after the 1997 release of the debut studio album Overcast!, which included the single “Scapegoat”. In 2001, the duo released Lucy Ford: The Atmosphere EPs, followed by God Loves Ugly (2002). Subsequent recordings included Seven's Travels (2003) and You Can't Imagine How Much Fun We're Having (2005). The ensemble released further studio albums including Fishing Blues (2016) and Mi Vida Local (2018). The group also co-founded the independent record label Rhymesayers Entertainment.
