Biography
Lobo y Melón was a Mexican son and salsa group formed in 1958 in Acapulco. The ensemble was led by percussionist Carlos Daniel "Lobo" Navarro and singer Luis Ãngel Silva, known as âMelónâ. They released their debut LP, Lobo y Melón, in June 1959, which featured the songs âNo hay negocioâ and âAmalia Batistaâ. By 1961, the group achieved international recognition through performances in Los Angeles and a recording contract with producer Chico Sesma. The band toured New York and Chicago in 1964 and performed alongside prominent artists such as Tito Puente and Machito. Lobo y Melón disbanded in 1971 due to internal conflicts. Following the group's dissolution, Silva joined Fania Records and collaborated with Johnny Pacheco on the albums Llegó Melón and Flying High.
