Biography

Les Petits Chanteurs de Saint‑Marc, founded in Lyon in September 1986 by Nicolas Porte, were a mixed children’s choir of approximately forty boys and girls aged nine to fifteen, all schooled at Collège Saint‑Marc. The group’s first public breakthrough came with their contribution to the soundtrack of Christophe Barratier’s Les Choristes in 2004, which elevated their profile across France and internationally. Chronologically, the choir released Nos Rêves on 14 November 2005, followed by the self‑titled Les Petits Chanteurs de Saint‑Marc on 1 February 2006, Dans La Cour Des Grands on 19 October 2008, and Sing The Beatles on 23 September 2011; single releases included "Faltaba Un Angel" (4 July 2011), "Le Loup, La Biche Et Le Chevalier" (6 July 2011), and "Moon River" featuring Diana Navarro (24 September 2013). The choir toured regularly throughout Europe and Asia, performed at the Notre‑Dame de Fourvière basilica, and recorded a DVD of Mozart’s Bastien et Bastienne. In October 2019, the association announced its dissolution due to financial difficulties, yet the choir continued under the name Maîtrise Saint‑Marc within the Académie Musicale Saint‑Marc, maintaining Nicolas Porte as director and opening recruitment to all children of the Lyon area.
