Biography
Les Frères Michot is a traditional Cajun band consisting of brothers Tommy, Rick, Mike, and David Michot. Although each member had been involved in various musical projects prior, they only began performing together as a group in 1986. They released their studio debut Elevés à Pillette in 1987, an album that honored the all-acoustic "bal de maison" (house dance) style, which was popular before electric amplification became widespread. Dedicated to preserving the authentic, traditional Cajun music style, the album honored a vital part of Louisiana's musical heritage. While primarily performing in south Louisiana and surrounding areas, Les Frères Michot has also extensively toured the United States, Quebec, and various European countries, sharing their passion for Cajun music with a global audience. In their performances, they often share stories and anecdotes about the origins and history of Cajun music. In 2003, the band released their album La Roue Qui Pend (The Hanging Wheel), followed by La Caroline in 2008, showcasing their continued commitment to preserving and promoting traditional Cajun sounds.
