La Máquina Camaleón was formed in 2012 in Quito, Ecuador, by Felipe Andrés Lizarzaburu, who serves as vocalist and keyboardist, with MartÃn Samaniego on drums, Rodrigo Capello on guitar, and Fernando Prócel on bass. Felipe Andrés Lizarzaburuâs earlier solo work and a 2007 indieârock project with the band Totem laid the groundwork for the groupâs psychedelicârock aesthetic. The bandâs first release was the 2011 EP A cantar y bailar que el mundo se va!, followed by the debut studio album Roja in 2014, recorded in Guápulo and produced by Felipe Andino, which showcased spontaneous, distorted arrangements and philosophical lyricism. In 2017 the second album Amarilla expanded their sonic palette, while 2018 saw the single "Empate" and "Sal" promote the forthcoming third album. AZULà was issued on 28â¯Augustâ¯2020, preceded by three singles-"Vacácioneâ¯Z", "BonanzÃ", and "Deâ¯laâ¯Fuente"-each released weekly in August. The band has toured extensively across Ecuador, performing at the Estadio OlÃmpico Atahualpa in 2015 and the Bombonera in 2017, and has maintained a presence on regional radio and streaming platforms. Their work has earned recognition within the indieârock scene, with "El inmenso" and "El amuleto" receiving notable airplay and the group securing a cult following through consistent live performances and visually striking music videos.
