Biography

La Bruja de Texcoco is the stage project of Octavio Mendoza, a Mexico City-born singer, actress, dancer, composer, arranger, and multi-instrumentalist whose work brings together Mexican and Latin American traditional forms with classical elements; the project emerged publicly by the late 2010s, and the first clearly documented releases were the single "Té de Malvón" and the EP De Brujas, Peteneras y Chachalacas in 2019. That early recording period established key songs such as "Balajú," "Laabe Muxhe," and "Nahual Papalotl," and in 2020 she followed with "Chéni (Miedo)," one of the signature tracks in her catalog. In the next few years she expanded her discography with singles including "Alquimia" and "El corrido de Sylvia Rivera" in 2021, "Apixque (Mis naguas de Hechizo)" and "Nostalgia" in 2022, and "Azcatl Cuecueyoca" with Rubén Albarrán in 2023. Her profile also grew through live and performance work, including an official INBAL concert-performance at the Teatro de la Danza Guillermina Bravo in 2023, while media and cultural coverage increasingly framed her as a figure connecting transfemininity, ritual staging, and Mexican tradition. In 2024 she returned with singles including "Tepari" and "Dxiña Huiini' (Dulcecito)," and in 2025 her music appeared in the Africa Express Presents... Bahidorá orbit, including tracks such as "El Diablo y La Bruja" and "Kelegusta," alongside new solo material including "San Antonio (Besos De Desamor para Borrachas)."
