Mary Rose Anna Travers, known as La Bolduc, born on June 4, 1894, in Newport, Gaspésie, Quebec, was a singer-songwriter. She became the first female singer-songwriter from Quebec, learning traditional instruments from her father and performing at local events by the age of 12. La Bolduc's career began in the late 1920s with recordings that reflected the daily life of Quebecers during the Great Depression. Her notable songs include "Ãa va venir, découragez-vous pas" and "Nos braves habitants". She passed away on February 20, 1941, in Montreal.
