Biography

Kussondulola is a Portuguese reggae band formed in the early 1990s from Lisbon. The group was founded by three Angolan musicians: Janelo da Costa (vocals, guitar), Messias Santiago Botelho (percussion), and Carlos Pereira, known as Daddy Bé (bass). Kussondulola's name translates to "movement" or "change" in Kimbundu. The band signed with EMI/Valentim de Carvalho in 1994, releasing their debut album Tá-se bem in 1995. Their music blended roots reggae and dancehall with traditional African influences. Kussondulola gained significant popularity in Portugal and Spain, performing regularly at festivals such as Vilar de Mouros and Festa do Avante!. They released several albums including Baza não baza (1998) and Amaakamka (2010).
