Kristinâ¯Gundred, known professionally as Kristin Kontrol, is an American musician. She began her music career as a member of Grand Ole Party from 2005 to 2009. In 2008, she founded the indie rock band Dum Dum Girls, where she performed under the pseudonym Dee Dee and released five studio albums between 2010 and 2014. In 2016, Welchez announced her new solo project, Kristin Kontrol, and released her debut album XâCommunicate on Mayâ¯27, 2016, via Sub Pop Records. The album marked a departure from her previous work with Dum Dum Girls, leaning towards synthpop. In addition to her music career, Welchez has collaborated with the cruelty-free cosmetics company Reverie and scored films such as Looking Glass (2017) and Smiley Face Killers (2018).
