Biography
Komeda is a Swedish indie pop band formed in UmeÃ¥ in 1991, originally consisting of vocalist Lena Karlsson, guitarist Lars Henrik Andersson, bassist Marcus Holmberg, and drummer Jonas Holmberg. The group debuted with the EP Pop PÃ¥ Svenska (1993), followed by the album Plan 714 till Komeda (1995). Guitarist Mattias Norlander replaced Andersson in 1994. The group gained international recognition with the release of the albums The Genius of Komeda (1996) and What Makes It Go? (1998), which led to tours with Beck and Ben Folds Five. They also composed the score for the animated film Pettson och Findus â Kattonauten (2000). Following a hiatus, the group released the album Kokomemedada (2003), which featured the track âOut from the Rainââused in a Nintendo DS commercialâand the hidden song âCheck It Outâ, which appeared in a 2006 Old Navy advertisement. The band members also pursued separate projects, including Marcus Holmberg's band The Most and Jonas Holmberg's audio-visual performance Gilles & Felix.
