Biography

Kilby Snow, born on May 28, 1905 in Grayson County, Virginia, United States, was an autoharp player known for his unique "drag note" playing style. At the age of five, he was awarded the title of Autoharp Champion of North Carolina. His left-handed technique allowed him to produce slurred notes that were distinctive and challenging for right-handed players to replicate. In the 1960s, Snow recorded a single album titled Country Songs and Tunes with Autoharp (1970) for Folkways Records. Kilby Snow passed away on March 20, 1980.
