Biography
Karina Jésica Tejeda, better known as Karina or âLa Princesita,â is an Argentinian singer and songwriter. She was born on January 30th, 1986, in Florida, Buenos Aires Province. She started as an avid karaoke performer before embarking on a professional career in music. She released her first album, Miénteme, in 2004, which was a success in the tropical music scene. The album also won the prestigious Gardel de Oro Award for Best Tropical Album By a Female Artist. Her third album, 2006âs Cosas del Amor, earned the same award. The albums Regalo de Dios and Sin Vergüenza, released in 2008 and 2009 respectively, were also awarded the Gardel de Oro in the same category. In 2011, Karina performed her first show at Buenos Airesâs Luna Park Stadium, which was later released as the live album Karina En Vivo. 2012 saw the release of the album Tiempo de Cambio, which produced the massive hit âFuera.â In 2019, Karina starred in Flavio Mendozaâs production of the musical Siddharta, playing the title role. In 2020, she participated as a judge in the singing competition show Cantando Por un Sueño. In June of 2021, Karina released the single âPirata,â which mixes elements of flamenco with Karinaâs trademark cumbia sound. The single was accompanied by her first-ever music video.
