Biography

Kalmankantaja was a Finnish black metal band formed in 2011. The group initially consisted of Grim666 on all instruments and Nagh on vocals. Their early releases included the EPs Elämä on kuoleva huora, Tekopyhyyttä pyhässä temppelissä, and III. In 2014, Nagh left the band, and Tyrant became the vocalist. Kalmankantaja released their self-titled album in 2012, followed by Kuolonsäkeet (2013), Elävältä haudattu (2013), and Ikuinen taival (2014). Subsequent releases included Waldeinsamkeit (2016) and Demonwoods (2017), which explored themes of depression and atmospheric black metal. The band collaborated with artists including Grimirg and Hermóðr and released split albums such as Kalmankantaja / Worthless Lament. Their discography also included singles such as “Varjosielu” and “Ruumiinvaellus.” Kalmankantaja released music on multiple labels, including War Against Yourself Records and GS Productions.
