K2, born Kim Sung-myun on July 31, 1967, is a South Korean singer-songwriter and actor known for his powerful rock ballads. He began his music career in 1988 as the vocalist of the rock band Iron Rose (ì² ì¥ë¯¸) and later gained popularity as the lead singer of Pinocchio in 1991, with the hit song "Between Love and Friendship" (ì¬ëê³¼ ì°ì ì¬ì´). In 1994, he formed K2 with guitarist Lee Tae-seop, showcasing his signature emotional vocals and four-octave range in dramatic rock ballads such as "Tragically Beautiful" (ì¬íëë¡ ìë¦ë¤ì´) (1995) and "Glass Castle" (ì 리ì ì±) (1999). After Lee's departure, Kim continued to release music under the K2 name, composing and producing many of his songs. In 2002, he released Time to Time, an album featuring reinterpreted versions of his hits, highlighting his enduring vocal strength and stage presence. Despite financial struggles in the 2000s, K2 remained active, focusing on concerts and live performances rather than television.
