Junius Paul, born around 1987, is an American jazz musician and double bass player. He studied at Xavier University and began his music career working across various genres including hip-hop, house music, funk, classical, and gospel. Between 2007 and 2019, Paul participated in numerous recording sessions with notable artists such as Dee Alexander, Ernest Dawkins, Kahil ElâZabar, Makaya McCraven, Nicole Mitchell, and Corey Wilkes. In 2015, he played in the Roscoe Mitchell Quartet with Tomeka Reid and Vincent Davis. His album Ism was released in 2019 under International Anthem Recording Company, featuring collaborations with Jim Baker, Scott Hesse, Marquis Hill, Makaya McCraven, Tomeka Reid, Isaiah Spencer, and Corey Wilkes. Paul's distinctive style includes wearing patterned tights both on stage and off, making him easily recognizable.
