Biography

Julian Byzantine is a British classical guitarist of Armenian descent born on June 11, 1945, in London. At age 21, he was appointed a professor at the Royal College of Music, succeeding John Williams. Byzantine performed at venues including Carnegie Hall, Royal Festival Hall, Wigmore Hall, and the Sydney Opera House. He released the studio recording Villa-Lobos: Five Preludes Etc. in 2007. Byzantine relocated to Australia, where he served as the head of classical guitar studies at the Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University.
