Biography

Juan Antonio Labra Illanes, also known as Juan Antonio Labra, born on January 13, 1959, in San Miguel, Santiago, is a Chilean singer, dancer, and songwriter. He started his career at age five with the group Los Flamingos, which included his father, Juan Segundo Labra Maulen. He performed on the Bim Bam Bum musical revue and recorded singles, such as "Miguelito" and "Dame tu bendición". His breakthrough came in 1980 at the Festival Internacional de la Canción de Viña del Mar with "Me enamoré de una soprano". Labra released his debut album, Juan Antonio Labra, in 1986, featuring hits like "Niña" and "Bailarina me haces mal". Subsequent albums include Soy latino (1989) with the title track and "Te quiero", and América morena (1990) with "Mueve mueve". His music has been covered by artists including Mónica De Calixto. Notable albums also include Nativo (1996) and Cumbias De Amor (1998). In 2024, he celebrated six decades of his career with the Pop Star 60 concert at the Teatro Teletón, featuring guests such as Luis Jara, Américo, and Verónica Villarroel.
