Josiah and the Bonnevilles is the Americana and indie-folk project of Tennessee singer-songwriter Josiah Leming, known for raw, emotionally honest songs that blend folk, country, roots rock, and Appalachian storytelling. Born in Morristown, Tennessee (26 March 1989), Josiah Leming began writing music as a teenager and famously left high school at 17 to travel the U.S., living out of his car while playing clubs and coffeehouses. After a brief appearance on American Idol, he signed with Warner Bros. Records as a solo artist before eventually reinventing himself as Josiah and the Bonnevilles. The project developed a devoted following through intimate songwriting, independent touring, and stripped-down performances. Albums such as On Trial (2018), Motel Mayday (2021), 2022 (2022), and Endurance (2023) helped grow the bandâs reputation, while viral acoustic covers and social media exposure introduced them to a wider audience. By 2024, Josiah and the Bonnevilles had become one of the rising names in modern Americana, selling out headline tours and making a debut at the Grand Ole Opry. After releasing the covers albums Country Covers (2023) and Country Covers II (2024), and the Christmas EP Winter (2025), the band released in May 2026 their fifth original studio LP, As Is.
