John Luther Adams is an American composer born in the United States in 1953. Adams attended the California Institute of the Arts and moved to Alaska in 1978, where the natural landscape influenced their musical compositions. Their early works include Green Corn Dance (1974) and the collection Songbirdsongs (1981). Adamsâ discography includes A Northern Suite / Night Peace (1983), Forest Without Leaves (1987), and Earth and the Great Weather (1995). They received the Heinz Award in 2011 and the Pulitzer Prize for Music in 2014 for the orchestral work Become Ocean (2013). Subsequent recordings include The Wind in High Places (2015) and Become Desert (2019).
