Andreas Jochen Hippel, born on October 14, 1971 in Kirchheimbolanden, Germany, was a musician known for his significant contributions to computer music during the 16-bit microcomputer era. His early involvement with music began with arranging Christmas songs in a rock style on a Commodore 64 at school. As part of The Exceptions under the handle Mad Max, Hippel composed most of the music for their demos, including the B.I.G. Demo. He later worked as a freelance musician, creating music for various 16-bit games and joining Thalion Software as a programmer and musician. His musical track for the game Amberstar is considered one of his best works, gaining a cult following. Hippel released an album titled Give It a Try, and composed tracks for albums such as Immortal 2 and Immortal 3. He also created the Amiga 7 voice replay routine used in several titles.
