Biography

Jean‑Christophe Keck, born 1964 in Briançon, France, is a musicologist, conductor and radio producer focused on Jacques Offenbach. He began as a tuba player in the Briançon town band, studied at the école de musique de Briançon, the Conservatoire de Marseille, and the Conservatoire national supérieur de musique de Paris, training in conducting, musicology, composition, and vocal studies. Jean-Christophe Keck’s breakthrough was his specialization in Offenbach, leading to the Offenbach Edition Keck, published by Boosey & Hawkes; editions of La Périchole, La Grande‑Duchesse de Gérolstein, La Vie parisienne and Les Brigands were performed successfully, and Orphée aux enfers received critical acclaim. He has directed the Orchestre des Concerts Pasdeloup’s Offenbach concerts since 2004, conducted Ba‑ta‑clan and Mesdames de la Halle for the Academy of Music Hanns Eisler Berlin in 2012.
