Jørgen Ingmann-Pedersen, born on 26 April 1925 in Copenhagen, Denmark, was a guitarist known for his contributions to jazz and pop music who recorded as Jørgen Ingmann. He began playing the violin at age 10 and later took up the guitar after completing his education. His professional career started with performances in orchestras led by Borge Roger Henrichsen and Bertrand Bech. During World War II, he joined Svend Asmussen's orchestra, one of Scandinavia's leading jazz ensembles. In 1945, he participated in his first recording session for the titles "Thatâs My Weakness/How Iâm Doin', Hey Hey". He married singer Grethe Clemmensen in 1956 and began performing with her as a duo. His breakthrough came in January 1961 with his version of the Shadows' "Apache", an instrumental hit that reached number two on the US charts, number four in Canada, and number six in Germany. His composition "Echo Boogie" achieved commercial success and was used by Norddeutscher Rundfunk as the theme for Die aktuelle Sportschau. In 1963, Jørgen Ingmann and his wife Grethe Ingmann won the Eurovision Song Contest with "Dansevise", marking Denmark's first victory. They continued to perform together until their divorce in 1975, after which he focused on composition. He remarried Grethe Ingmann in the 1980s before her death in 1990. Jørgen Ingmann passed away on 21 March 2015 in Holte, Denmark.
