One-hit soul and disco wonders the Jackson Sisters are best known for their 1973 funked-up soul gem "I Believe In Miracles," which was released on US label Prophesy Records in 1973. The song was later sampled by Basement Jaxx, Arrested Development and Public Enemy (for 1990's "Canât Do Nuttinâ For Ya Man.") Comprising the Compton, California-born Jacqueline Jackson-Rencher, Lyn Jackson, Pat Jackson, Rae Jackson and Gennie Jackson, Jackson Sisters formed in Detroit, Michigan in 1971 and released a string of singles, including 1975 soul soother "When Your Love Is Gone." 1976 saw the release of their debut album, Jackson Sisters, with many of the LP's songs written by soul veteran Johnny Bristol. The group disbanded following the release of the album in 1977, but decade later enjoyed a new lease of ife when the UK's rare groove (fans of hard-to-source soul and jazz vinyl) scene began to take shape. In 1988, "I Believe In Miracles" was reissued and reached Number 72 in the UK charts. The Detroit group's debut self-titled album was also reissued on vinyl in 2018.
