Biography

John Paul "J.P." Cormier, born January 23, 1969, in London, Ontario, is a Canadian singer and multi-instrumentalist known for his work in bluegrass, Celtic folk, and country music. He began playing guitar around age five and won a guitar contest at age nine. Cormier's early career included appearances on the television show Up Home Tonight and recording his first album at age sixteen. After releasing The Fiddle Album in 1991, Cormier released Return to the Cape in 1995, followed by several other albums including Another Morning (1997) and Heart & Soul (1999). He has won thirteen East Coast Music Awards and one Canadian Folk Music Award. In 2015, Cormier released the single "Hometown Battlefield", a song about soldiers experiencing posttraumatic stress disorder that went viral with millions of views on social media platforms.
