Ivo Kahánek (born on May 23,â¯1979, in Frýdek-MÃstek) is a Czech pianist and music educator. He graduated from the Academy of Arts Prague, in London at the Guildhall School under Ronan OâHora and through masterclasses with KarlâHeinzâ¯Kämmerling, Christianâ¯Zacharias, Alicia deâ¯Larrocha. Ivo Kahánekâs breakthrough came with 2004 victory at the Prague International Music Spring Competition, followed by prizes at the Mariaâ¯Canals, Vendôme, Fryderykâ¯Chopin, and Concertinoâ¯Praga contests. He signed a threeâyear contract with Supraphon in 2007, recording works by JanáÄek, Martinů, Klein and KabeláÄ, and released Chopin: Sonata Op.â¯58âScherzi in 2010. Additionally, Ivo Kahánek performed with the BBC Symphony Orchestra under JiÅÃâ¯BÄlohlávek, Czech Philharmonic and WDR Cologne.
