Biography
Ivana GavriÄ, born in June 1980 in Sarajevo, is a British pianist. She began her musical studies at age six and moved to the UK in 1992, attending The Latymer School and the Guildhall School of Music Junior Department. GavriÄ studied music at St Catharine's College, Cambridge, and completed her master's at the Royal College of Music. Her debut album In the Mists, released in 2010, received critical acclaim. In April 2011, she was named Newcomer of the Year at the BBC Music Magazine Awards. Subsequent albums include From the street (2011), Grieg: Piano Works (2013), and Chopin (2017). GavriÄ also performed on the soundtrack of Anthony Minghella's Breaking and Entering and played a pianist on the BBC Two series The Line of Beauty.
