Iván Patachich was born on June 3, 1922 in Budapest, Hungary. He studied composition and conducting at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music from 1941 to 1947. Patachich began his career directing theater orchestras, including the Hungarian State Opera orchestra (1943â1947). In 1952, he became music director at Mafilm, where he held the position until 1987. He ventured into electronic music in 1958 and won the Bourges Electroacoustic Prize in 1978. Notable albums include Musical Electro-Alchemy (1982) and Works Of Electronic Music (1986). Patachich passed away on May 9, 1993.
