Ishmael Ali, known professionally as IshDARR, is an American rapper from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Born in 1997, Ali began making music and writing lyrics in seventh grade. In early 2014, he released his debut EP The Better Life, which led to a meeting with Mike Caren, the Vice President of A&R at Atlantic Records. Later that year, IshDARR opened for Ab-Soul on his These Days tour and performed at South by Southwest in 2015. His first mixtape, Old Soul, Young Spirit, featured the single "Too Bad," which gained popularity after being tweeted by actress Chloë Grace Moretz and reached over seven million streams. In October 2016, he released his second mixtape, Broken Hearts & Bankrolls Vol. 2. IshDARR also ventured into acting, starring as Steven "Freaky Steve" Roussell in the 2018 film White Boy Rick. His most recent project is the EP Rested, released in May 2023.
