Biography

Since the 1990s, France has become a new home for reggae. Numerous Jamaican artists have been reborn here thanks to the work of Mediacom for touring and the Makasound label. Inna de Yard was born of the passion of Makasound's Nicolas Maslowski and the improvised backyard jams of guitarist Earl "Chinna" Smith. Originally a purely acoustic project, Inna de Yard has evolved into a collective incorporating bass, drums and nyabinghi percussion. Released in July 2010, the CD and DVD Live In France retraces the highlights of the 2009 tour, while a new version of the collective is touring festivals in summer 2010. Seven years later, a new reunion takes place under the same recording conditions, resulting in The Soul of Jamaica, an essential testimony to the vitality of Jamaican music.
