Biography

Hiro Kurosaki, born in 1959 in Tokyo, Japan, is an Austrian violinist and educator of Japanese origin. At age seven, his family moved to Vienna, where he studied violin under Franz Samohyl and attended masterclasses with Nathan Milstein. Kurosaki's early career breakthroughs included winning prizes at the Henryk Wieniawski Violin Competition in Poznan and the Fritz Kreisler Competition in Vienna. He performed with notable orchestras worldwide and released albums such as Les quatre violons (1999), Handel - Violin Sonatas (2003), and a series of Beethoven's violin sonatas between 2009 and 2010. Kurosaki was also known for his work with the Baroque violin and has held concertmaster positions with ensembles like Les Arts Florissants and the Clemencic Consort. He has also been a professor at institutions including the Mozarteum in Salzburg and the Real Conservatorio Superior de Música de Madrid, focusing on Baroque violin and historical performance practice.
