Harry Boardman, born in 1930 in Failsworth, Lancashire, England, was a folk singer and songwriter dedicated to preserving British folk music. He started his career in the late 1950s, performing at local folk clubs like the Wayfarer's Folk Club and organizing events at venues such as the Unicorn Hotel in Manchester. Boardman's work focused on the folklore of Lancashire, often singing unaccompanied or with an Anglo concertina or banjo. His first compilation album, New Voices, was released in 1965. Throughout his career, he released notable albums including A Lancashire Mon (1973) and The Bonnie Pit Laddie (1975). Boardman's contributions significantly influenced the preservation of traditional music in North West England. After his death in 1987, posthumous releases such as Personal Choice (2008) continued to honor his legacy.
