Biography

Hardy Rittner is a German pianist who was born in 1981 in Rüsselsheim. He received his first piano lessons at age four and began his formal studies at the Mozarteum Salzburg in 1998. He studied under Karl-Heinz Kämmerling and Siegbert Rampe, graduating with distinction in 2003. Rittner continued his education at the University of the Arts in Berlin, where he completed an advanced degree in 2009. He has performed throughout Europe, the United States, South Korea, and Taiwan, including a debut at the National Concert Hall in Taipei. His recordings include the albums Early Piano Works (2008), featuring pieces by Johannes Brahms performed on original period instruments, and the complete piano works of Arnold Schönberg (2009). Rittner was the youngest prize winner at the Rina Sala Gallo Piano Competition in 1996 and received the Echo-Klassik award for Newcomer of the Year in 2009. He was appointed as a professor of piano at the Freiburg University of Music in 2017.
