Biography
Hammerhai is a German ska-punk band from Hannover formed in 1997. They became known for a unique blend of ska-punk, influenced by hip-hop, metal, beat, reggae, hardcore punk, and rock. Their distinctive sound featured the striking voice of Christian "Sölti" Sölter and a prominent organ, often accompanied by a blues harp, which gave their music a retro sound with NDW charm. They released a debut album, Erledigt (1999), followed by ...schlägt zurück (2000), Komma' klar! (2002), and the live album Unterwegs (2004). Their fourth studio album, Mein Kiez (2006), was dedicated to the Hannover district of Linden. Hammerhai gained recognition for their live performances and wordy German lyrics paired with catchy arrangements. In 2019, they released the album Unterm Schnellweg (2019). They were described as typical Hannover scene veterans and had a strong connection to the Béi Chéz Heinz venue in Hannover.
