Groupe RTD was a Djiboutian band formed in 2013 as the house band of Radiodiffusion télévision de Djibouti, the state-owned public broadcaster. The group consisted of Mohamed Abdi Alto on saxophone, Asma Omar, Guessod Abdo Hamargod, and Hassan Omar Houssein on vocals, Omar Farah Houssein on drums, Moussa Aden Ainan on keyboards, Abdirazak Hagi Sufi âKaajaaâ on guitar, Abdo Houssein Handeh on bass, and Salem Mohamed Ahmed on tombak. Groupe RTD's debut album, The Dancing Devils of Djibouti, was recorded in three days and released by Ostinato Records in June 2020, marking the first international album release from Djibouti. The band's music was influenced by various styles including US-American jazz, Jamaican reggae, Bollywood films, and regional music from Ethiopia, Somalia, the Middle East, and India. Groupe RTD performed at significant events, including visits by dignitaries and presidential ceremonies in Djibouti.
