Biography

Welsh rock band, Gorky's Zygotic Mynci, was formed in Carmarthen, Wales, in 1991 by Euros Childs, John Lawrence, and Richard James. The group initially included Sion Lane and Steffan Cravos, who left after recording their first cassette, Allumette. Megan Childs joined the band, and they signed with Ankst Records, releasing their debut album Patio in 1992. This collection featured live and studio recordings, showcasing the band's eclectic influences. Gorky's Zygotic Mynci released several notable albums throughout their career, including Tatay (1994) and Bwyd Time (1995), both known for their diverse musical styles. Their breakthrough came with Barafundle in 1997, which highlighted their blend of rock, psychédélique, and traditional Celtic music. The band's style evolved over time, incorporating more folk and pop elements in albums like Spanish Dance Troupe (1999) and How I Long to Feel that Summer In My Heart (2001). Notable songs include "Patio Song" and "Stood on Gold". After the departure of John Lawrence in 1999, the band continued with new members until their disbandment in May 2006.
