Gordon Hunt, born in 1950 in London, England, is a British oboist. Encouraged by his parents, who were both musicians, Hunt began his musical journey under the tutelage of Terence MacDonagh. His professional career started with principal positions at notable orchestras such as the Philharmonia Orchestra and the London Chamber Orchestra. Hunt has collaborated with renowned conductors including Vladimir Ashkenazy and Sir Simon Rattle, and has made several recordings for labels like BMG, EMI, and Virgin. Notable releases include Soliloquy (1998) and Elevazione - The Magic Of The Oboe (2001). He was the original "Gabriel's Oboe" in the score for the 1986 film The Mission, and has directed various orchestras worldwide. Hunt has been recognized as a UNESCO Artist for Peace (2010) and has served as principal oboe of the World Orchestra for Peace.
