Godfried Hoogeveen, born in 1946 in Hilversum, Netherlands, is a Dutch cellist who began his musical journey at age ten under Max Budnitzky and Jacobus van der Beek. He studied at the Muzieklyceum in Amsterdam with Tibor de Machula, earning a cum laude diploma in 1970, and furthered his education at the University of Southern California under Gregor Piatigorsky. From 1976 to 1990, he served as a cellist soloist at the Residentie Orkest in the Hague. In 1990, Hoogeveen became the principal cellist of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra in Amsterdam. He performed with notable conductors such as Wolfgang Sawallisch and Riccardo Chailly, and his repertoire included over 40 solo concerts across Europe, Asia, and both Americas.
