Biography

Girl Authority was an American cover pop girl group formed in 2005. The group consisted of nine members aged 8 to 13, established by vocal coach Samantha Hammel, Grammy-winning producer Scott Billington, and Rounder Records CEO John Virant. Their self-titled debut album, released on Zoë Records in April 2006, reached Number 9 on Billboard's Top Kid Audio chart and featured covers of "Material Girl" by Madonna and "Breakaway" by Kelly Clarkson. In April 2006, they performed with The Dresden Dolls in Boston. Their second album, Road Trip, was released in March 2007, including covers like "Let's Get Together" by Depeche Mode and "Shine" by Cyndi Lauper. Girl Authority disbanded in the summer of 2010 as the oldest members graduated high school, ending their contracts with Rounder Records.
