Biography

Gianfranco Plenizio, born on January 10, 1941, in Sedegliano, Italy, was a conductor, composer, and pianist. He began his musical journey studying piano with Enrico De Angelis Valentini and conducting under Franco Ferrara. After debuting as a pianist, he shifted focus to conducting, leading orchestras such as the London Symphony Orchestra, the Santa Cecilia Orchestra, and the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra. Plenizio's career also included composing film scores for notable directors like Federico Fellini and Billy Wilder. His work in film music resulted in several albums such as Il prete sposato (1970) and La gatta in calore (1972). Later albums include Liberi Armati Pericolosi (2008) and Violentata Sulla Sabbia / Bella Di Giorno Moglie Di Notte (2015). Plenizio passed away on February 7, 2017.
