Biography

Ghostkeeper, a Canadian experimental pop/rock band formed in 2008, is led by Shane Ghostkeeper and includes members Sarah Houle, Eric Hamelin, and Ryan Bourne. The group's music blends elements of '60s girl-group melodies, country music, ‘90s indie rock, African pop, and traditional Aboriginal pow wow music. Their debut album And the Children of the Great Northern Muskeg was released in 2008 on Saved by Radio. The band's second album, titled Ghostkeeper, was released in March 2010 by Flemish Eye Records and debuted at number 32 on Earshot's Top 50, number 6 on Chart Attack's Top 30, and number 28 on CBC Radio 3's Top 30. In 2022, their album Multidimensional Culture was longlisted for the 2023 Polaris Music Prize. Shane Ghostkeeper also released his debut solo album, Songs for My People, in 2023, which was a longlisted nominee for the 2024 Polaris Music Prize.
