Biography

Gerhild Romberger, born in Sögel, Germany, is a German mezzo‑soprano and contralto concert and oratorio singer. She studied music pedagogy at the Hochschule für Musik Detmold and voice with Heiner Eckels, graduating in 1990 with an artistic diploma and completing her concert exam in 1992. Her career included recordings such as Bach: Kantaten I (2010), Mahler: Symphony No. 3 (2017), collaborating with conductors such as Christoph Eschenbach and Andris Nelsons. She performed internationally, including Beethoven’s Missa solemnis in South America and the 9th Symphony at the 2013 Beethovenfest. In 2015 she received the ECHO Klassik for the chamber recording of Das Lied von der Erde with the Detmolder Kammerorchester.
