Biography
Gary Schocker, born October 18, 1959 in the United States of America, is a flutist, composer, and pianist. At age 15, he performed with the New York Philharmonic in a nationally televised Young People's Concert. Schocker has collaborated with orchestras including the Philadelphia Orchestra and the Dallas Symphony.
He is known for his extensive compositional output, with over 200 works in print. Notable premieres include James Galway's performance of Green Places at Ireland's Adair Festival. His musicals, co-written with Barbara Campbell, include Far from the Madding Crowd and The Awakening, which won the Global Search for New Musicals in the UK. Schocker received the National Flute Association's Young Artist Competition in 1978.
