Biography

Garion is a South Korean hip-hop group formed in 1998, consisting of rappers MC Meta and Naachal. The group, known for rapping entirely in Korean, was named after a mythical white horse with a black mane from Mount Paektu. They initially came together after MC Meta, who was performing with the rap collective Blex, met Naachal at a concert. Producer J-U later joined the group. In 2004, the band released their self-titled debut album, Garion. The album garnered extensive critical praise in Korea's underground hip-hop scene for its innovative use of the Korean language in rap. In the following years, it went on to become an influential and important release, being listed as one of the 100 Masterpieces of Korean Popular Music by the Korean music press. In 2005, the group released the single "Mutu," which won the Best Hip-Hop Song award at the 2006 Korean Music Awards. Their second album, Garion 2, was released in October 2010 after delays due to personal and health issues. The album received widespread acclaim and won multiple awards at the 2011 Korean Music Awards, including Album of the Year and Best Hip Hop Album. In 2015, the group released the mini-album titled 15th Anniversary Album in celebration of their anniversary as a group. A year later, Garion unveiled the singles "Heritage" and "이야기."
