Biography

João Batista do Vale, known as João do Vale, and born on October 11, 1934, in Pedreiras, Brazil, was a samba musician, singer, and composer. He began his musical journey at a young age and moved to São Luís in 1947. His career took off in 1964 when he made his debut as a singer. João do Vale's notable compositions include "Carcará", co-written with José Cândido and popularized by Maria Bethânia, and "Peba na pimenta" with Adelino Rivera. He released several albums throughout his career, including O poeta do povo in 1965 and João do Vale convida in 1981. João do Vale passed away on December 6, 1996, in São Luís.
